GUIDE TO BAQUEIRA, VAL DE RUDA, AND COTA 1700

At the foot of the Baqueira Beret ski resort, the localities of Val de Ruda, the village of Baqueira, and a little higher up, Cota 1700, await you with their spectacular landscape and temptations beyond the snow. From excursions through pine forests and encounters with local wildlife to gastronomic journeys and evenings of well-being, discover in this guide what to do in Baqueira and its surroundings during your vacation.

BAQUEIRA BERET SKI RESORT

When thinking about what to do in Baqueira, the first thing that inevitably comes to mind is the Baqueira Beret ski resort. Among its more than 150 km of skiable terrain lies a bucolic landscape of powder snow and pine forests, where you can engage in various skiing disciplines and other winter sports. Additionally, if you need to rent snow equipment, at Procenter – located in the Ruda Shopping Gallery, next to the cable car that provides access to the Baqueira Beret resort – you can get a discount by showing your reservation with FeelFree.

BAQUEIRA BEYOND SKIING

But the best part of the Baqueira-Beret resort is not just skiing. You can go on snowshoe excursions, snowmobiling, heliskiing, or even dog sledding, the latter being especially recommended if you’re traveling with family. However, if you prefer a more relaxed plan, you can always visit one of its après-ski spots – like the iconic Moët Winter Lounge – to enjoy a snack with mountain views and live music.

And what if you’re traveling outside the snow season? Then you have a plethora of hiking, 4×4, or biking routes to explore through beech forests, fir woods, and hazelnut groves.

EXCURSIONS FOR ALL LEVELS AND AGES

With departures from your apartment in Baqueira or the Val de Ruda urbanization, you can embark on some of our favorite excursions, especially if you’re traveling between spring and autumn. Venture into the heart of Val de Ruda on a route to the Saboredo Lakes, located at an altitude of 2,500 meters. Visit the Aigüestortes National Park, where amidst ancient fir trees, you can spot marmots, chamois, and bearded vultures. Or, if you prefer, explore the lakes of the Circo de Colomèrs with a circular route among mountains dotted with around fifty lakes. It’s a spectacular 6-hour journey, relatively easy with gentle slopes, and highly recommended for families.

If you’re staying in Cota 1700, there are plenty of excursions you can undertake. Among our must-do options are two easy and low-elevation routes – perfect for families – both starting from Pla de Beret, next to the Baqueira Beret resort. The first is to the Baciver Lakes, a semicircular 5 km route through spectacular wetlands and pine forests. The second is a visit to the historic Montgarri Sanctuary, with a 10.6 km circular route through meadows, pine forests, and the Noguera Pallaresa River. Additionally, if you visit us in winter, you can do this same route on a snowmobile or dog sledding! Feel free to ask us for more information.
